Learn how to make your own movies! Whether you're interested in becoming a professional filmmaker in Hollywood or interested in developing your own independent film projects, this course will put you ahead of the competition by teaching you the fundamentals of filmmaking through nonlinear digital editing and compositing using iMacs and a variety of software such as Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5, Adobe After Effects, and Ableton Live (music making software). You will explore the skills and knowledge involved in screenwriting, directing, working with actors, cinematography, lighting, picture and sound editing, and become familiar with the processes of digitizing and manipulating video in the computer. Working individually or as teams, you will create various projects designed to introduce you to the fictional narrative, the documentary, and the experimental film. No previous computer skills are necessary - emphasis is on initiative, imagination, and creativity. This course is also offered for college credit.
