This course is an introduction to performing arts that includes circus arts, dance and theatre.  This course includes physical training in circus, dance and theatre which involves skill development, basic vocabulary, body awareness and safety.  Circus arts skill building includes physical training in individual and group acrobatics, juggling, aerials and flexibility.   This course includes academic assignments including lectures and research projects on the history of the American circus, introduction to dance genres including ballet, modern, jazz, hip hop and musical theatre, and theatre studies including physical theatre and clowning.  This course will begin the development of artistic literacy through performance review and critique.  Students will learn individual and group performance techniques and skills.   There is no prerequisite for this course and no experience necessary.
