My name is Becky Kerylow, and I am currently a senior at the Windham Regional Career Center. For my senior project I did a food demonstration at a nursing home called Thompson House. I made oatmeal smoothies for the residents with fruit and yogurt.
I took WRCC classes during my senior year, which I like because they are different than high school classes. In my classes I noticed that some people learn and work differently. The activities we do at the Career Center are more hands-on and I learned which skills I can connect to a career. I’ve taken Word and Excel Applications and am currently taking Technical Math IV and Technical and Professional English IV. I have been doing a lot better in math this year because I can actually understand what I am doing.
Now that I have taken Career Center classes and enjoyed them, and I wish I had started taking them sooner in high school instead of waiting until my senior year. I have had so much fun in the Career Center, from the little activities we do in Math and English to getting involved with Future Business Leaders of America activities. Even though at first, I didn’t really think I wanted to be a part of FBLA, there were so many fun things we did throughout the year. I went to the meetings, did all the fund raising, and loved it. Now that I’m not taking any business classes, I miss it.
Overall, I have had a great year in the Career Center.
