I first heard about the WRCC Construction program through Miss Nicole when I told her I was interested in construction, and she explained that part of her class includes visiting career programs that match students’ interests. I chose construction because, ever since I was little, I would sit in the living room watching construction and architecture channels to see how people design and build homes. What I enjoy most is learning about the different tools and all the ways they can be used. I am especially proud of working with my classmates as a team to build a bench. Through WRCC, I’ve had opportunities to visit job sites and hardware stores, which helped me learn more about tools and the field. This class has made me realize that I want to pursue construction as a career. My advice to new students is to take a career foundations class to learn what opportunities are available at WRCC and to choose classes that match their interests. Overall, I feel WRCC is doing a great job.
