Annabelle
Brookes
Annabelle Brookes, a senior at Leland and Gray, is currently in her second year of the Career Center’s Aviation program. Her interest in aviation began with a fascination for how drones can be used in the medical field. A significant influence on her career path has been her father, who serves as Head of Operations for Task Force One. As a child, Annabelle often accompanied him on search-and-rescue training missions, where she saw firsthand how drones are used in emergency response.
Realizing that she would need a drone pilot license to operate the types of drones used in medical and emergency services, Annabelle began exploring her options. During her sophomore year, she toured the Career Center and discovered the Aviation program. She learned that it would prepare her to take both the written portion of the private pilot’s license exam and the FAA Part 107 drone pilot certification exam.
Annabelle’s future goals include earning her full pilot’s license to operate drones and enlisting in the Air Force. She credits the Career Center Aviation program with helping shape her decision by offering opportunities to connect with military recruiters and by equipping her with foundational skills for her chosen career. The program has solidified her passion and commitment to pursuing a career in aviation and emergency services.
